New Features and Bug Fixes in GRAL Dispersion Model GUI - Version 24.11 Released

   The GRAL Dispersion Model/GUI has been updated to version 24.11, with several new features and critical bug fixes. This release brings enhancements designed to improve user experience and functionality.

   The high-resolution model system GRAMM/GRAL, developed at the Institute of Thermodynamics and Sustainable Propulsion Systems at Graz University of Technology, has become a benchmark for dispersion modelling in urban areas, both in scientific research, as well as in regulatory assessments. The model is especially suitable for low-wind speed conditions and complex terrain. An integrated micro-scale flow-field model takes the effect of buildings on pollutant dispersion into account. A new version of this system has been released with the following features:

  1. Bourke Contour Line Smoothing: An optional feature has been added to smooth Bourke contour lines using an adjustable Gaussian filter.
  2. Wind Rose Segments: Wind rose segments can now be drawn in pie shapes instead of triangles, enhancing the visual representation.
  3. Shape File Export: Users can now export shape files for Bourke contour lines, buildings, and the dispersion area, making it easier to work with external tools.
  4. Hourly Mean Evaluation: The system now supports the evaluation of hourly means for percentile calculations when dispersion times are sub-hourly (15, 20, or 30 minutes).
  5. Reproducible Results Support: A new option for "GRAL Reproducible Results" has been added, ensuring more consistent and reliable results.

In addition some bug fixes have been delivered

  1. Percentile Evaluation Crash: A bug that caused the percentile evaluation for odour calculations to crash, due to a missing parameter, has been fixed.
  2. Source Group Removal: A bug that prevented the removal of an existing source group after adding it but not saving it has been resolved.
