The new International Association of Applied Olfactometry (IAAO) has been presented for the first time in the 3rd IWA International conference on Odour and VOC's that took place in Barcelona.
The IAAO aims to promote high quality in olfactometry and odour assessment methods for odours that are relevant to the outdoor and indoor human living environment.
To achieve this general objective, the IAAO encourages its members to be transparent on quality issues to state uncertainty in a quantitative way, to participate in proficiency testing, to actively seek accreditation on their QA/QC systems, exchange information on methods and to take an active role in standardisation. The public role of the IAAO is to inform the general public on the abilities and quality issues associated with the applied odour assessment.
The IAAO Oblivium (Ob) Award commemorates individuals and institutions who have made significant contributions to the field of olfactometry and assessment of environmental odours.
The IAAO maintains a website www.olfactometry.org to divulge information to its members and the general public.
