   The study aims to explore the use of satellite technology (GHGSat) for measuring methane emissions and its application in quantifying odors in landfills, waste and wastewater treatment plants. 

  This study proposes to identify and monitor methane emission sources, a tracer gas that allows inferring the presence of odors associated with the decomposition of organic matter, through the use of satellite technology (GHGSat) with its high spatial resolution and accuracy, facilitates the identification of critical areas and the evaluation of the efficiency of odor control systems.

    La Cromatografia del gas accoppiata alla Spettrometria di mobilità ionica (GC-IMS) è presente da un po' di tempo ed è stata utilizzata in diversi progetti per rilevare l'impronta degli odori.  Recentemente, un articolo innovativo ha introdotto il pacchetto R GCIMS, un tool open-source progettato per semplificare l'elaborazione dei dati per questa tecnologia all'avanguardia.

   Il GC-IMS consente lo studio dei composti organici volatili (VOC) nei biofluidi, dando origine a quanto spesso viene definito "volatilomica". Questi composti contribuiscono ai distinti odori associati al respiro, alla saliva, al sudore e altro. In modo importante, le variazioni nella composizione di questi VOC sono indicative di diverse condizioni di salute e possono essere sfruttate per la diagnosi delle malattie e il monitoraggio dei farmaci.
